Summary

Noom’s first-ever (and only!) official book!

When it comes to setting and achieving your goals, how you think influences what you do。 Whether developing a sustainable relationship with food, jump-starting a new fitness routine to shoot for a certain number on the scale, or tackling a health issue, mindset is key to meeting your goals—but it can also often be the most neglected element in any attempt to change behavior。 While you might know what you want to do, the key to success is understanding why you want to do it, and how you make a plan that works for you in the long term。

The Noom Mindset, created by the leading digital health company that has helped millions achieve their weight and health goals, deconstructs habits around the core drivers of body weight: what we eat and how much we move。 You’ll discover how your habits around eating and weight management are impacted by your own self-confidence, stress, habits, lifestyle choices, and the rollercoaster of motivation (yes, it’s supposed to go up and down)。 Best of all, you’ll learn skills that can be applied to any behavior you want to change, habit you want to break, or life you want to create。

This book is an instruction manual for achieving sustainable lifestyle changes plus many other health-related outcomes, including weight loss。 With The Noom Mindset, you’ll learn how to:
-Cultivate a growth mindset
-Master the forging or deconstructing of behavior chains
-Overcome thought distortions
-Generate meaningful internal motivation for staying focused on your goals
-Create changes that stick

Based on more than a decade of research and experimentation, Noom has helped millions of users succeed by employing the mindset tactics that this book teaches。 Written with an emphasis on self-awareness, goal-setting, and self-experimentation, The Noom Mindset provides powerful tools to help you reach your goals, your way。

The Noom Mindset isn't a diet book, which I thought that was what it was。 It is about Mindset and the way our brain talks to us, because of what we learned and was taught。 This book guides us through the process of how to change our mindset, or change what our brain is telling us。 This wasn't new info for me because I had used it to quit smoking, but I never used it for any of the other struggles in my life。 This book, helped me realize that it could help me in my struggles with weight。 To me, f The Noom Mindset isn't a diet book, which I thought that was what it was。 It is about Mindset and the way our brain talks to us, because of what we learned and was taught。 This book guides us through the process of how to change our mindset, or change what our brain is telling us。 This wasn't new info for me because I had used it to quit smoking, but I never used it for any of the other struggles in my life。 This book, helped me realize that it could help me in my struggles with weight。 To me, food was something you had to have in order to survive。 As I read the book, I have learned about all the diets, the foods that are best to eat to lose weight, which foods you should eat carbs, protein, fat, and it just became a mess。 This book helped me straighten out all the jumble of information that I had put in my brain, and none of it made sense。 Reading the book and putting into practice what I was learning, helped me to figure some things out, which helped me start changing my mindset。 I worried it was going to be just one more thing to add to the pile of info I had put into my brain。 It isn't that way because my brain says this is a tool that will help me, reach my goal of where I want to be。 That is a huge step for me, because this is becoming part of my journey to be the best me I can be。 It isn't trying to live up to what someone else wants me to do, or has to be done now, and I keep the book handy because when I am struggling or get discouraged, I pick up the book and I can remember it is part of my journey, and I no longer sabotage myself, because I believe I was going to fail any way。 It isn't Noom telling me what I am going to have to do, it is Noom letting me know that habits are hard to break, so be proud of what I have achieved, and to think about how the thoughts of my brain has changed。 I think the book will help me to get where I want to go because, I am not doing what someone else is telling me, I am learning a new way of thinking about the reason why I want to do what I am doing, and I pay attention to what my old habits are saying to me to get me to go back to the way I was。 I knew about Noom, but I am not an app's person, reading a book has always helped me make sense of things, so I was happy they came out with this book。 This book reminds me that in order to change my old habits, I have to change my mindset, and once I change my mindset, then it will be easier to live the way I want for the rest of my life。I received an ARC from S&S/Simon Element through NetGalley and I have it electronically, but I think it is so helpful I bought the book to hold。 Habits are hard to break, and I like the feel of holding a book。 。。。more

Whether you are familiar with Noom or not, The Noom Mindset is a user-friendly guide to the psychology behind the popular weight-loss app。 It is a very easy reading, thorough explanation of the hows and whys of setting and reaching goals, particularly in terms of personal health。 Readers will leave the experience with a greater understanding of personal motivation and how to tweak their own environment to better their chances of success, whatever their health goals may be。 I found the book inter Whether you are familiar with Noom or not, The Noom Mindset is a user-friendly guide to the psychology behind the popular weight-loss app。 It is a very easy reading, thorough explanation of the hows and whys of setting and reaching goals, particularly in terms of personal health。 Readers will leave the experience with a greater understanding of personal motivation and how to tweak their own environment to better their chances of success, whatever their health goals may be。 I found the book interesting and even though I have a fairly thorough understanding of psychology and behavior change, the information was presented in a way that was not repetitive or boring, at all。 For readers that want to go more deeply, the book includes numerous footnotes with reference to the original study publication。 For those without a psychological background, the authors have explained concepts in easy to understand language, and give relevant examples often。 Although I received a digital copy, I will likely purchase a hard copy, to use as a reference for my personal health journey。 It is that good!Thank you to Netgalley and S&S/Simon Element for the digital ARC of The Noom Mindset。 The opinions in this review are my own。 。。。more

First I'd like to thank Netgalley and the publisher for the advanced reader's copy of this publication。I already have the Noom app, and find it to be pretty helpful with diet/self-help/habit forming。 Noom is all about a change in mindset rather than an overhaul of your whole diet, that most likely will result in weight loss。 While the book is described to be a more in-depth look than the app, I don't believe it actually is that much more in-depth, but rather more winded and repetitive。 It does g First I'd like to thank Netgalley and the publisher for the advanced reader's copy of this publication。I already have the Noom app, and find it to be pretty helpful with diet/self-help/habit forming。 Noom is all about a change in mindset rather than an overhaul of your whole diet, that most likely will result in weight loss。 While the book is described to be a more in-depth look than the app, I don't believe it actually is that much more in-depth, but rather more winded and repetitive。 It does get into some other subjects like the owners and their why but I don't know that hearing those stories really made me feel anything more or different。 Overall I give this book a 3 out of 5。 It's helpful but I would skip the book and use the app instead。 。。。more

This is a useful book that provides a concise overview of the process of changing mindset and habits。 There's nothing new or groundbreaking here, but the information is provided in a way that's easy to read and understand。 It's the kind of thing that would be good to read as a reminder every year。Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received。 This is my honest and voluntary review。 This is a useful book that provides a concise overview of the process of changing mindset and habits。 There's nothing new or groundbreaking here, but the information is provided in a way that's easy to read and understand。 It's the kind of thing that would be good to read as a reminder every year。Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received。 This is my honest and voluntary review。 。。。more

Thanks for the advanced copy NetGalley!I've used the Noom app a couple of times, and this book is perfectly in-line with the app。 I was a bit surprised that the book covers the creaters of the Noom app, and their why。 Kind of felt like two men wanted to start a business, so bam they created a few things and ended up at Noom。 It doesn't read as if they wanted to help people, but reads as of they wanted a money making business lol, no shame though。Many people love Noom, I have a male co-worker tha Thanks for the advanced copy NetGalley!I've used the Noom app a couple of times, and this book is perfectly in-line with the app。 I was a bit surprised that the book covers the creaters of the Noom app, and their why。 Kind of felt like two men wanted to start a business, so bam they created a few things and ended up at Noom。 It doesn't read as if they wanted to help people, but reads as of they wanted a money making business lol, no shame though。Many people love Noom, I have a male co-worker that lost 100+ pounds using the app。 It wasn't for me, but it works for many。 They say no food is off limits, but food is labeled red, yellow, and green。 Red food is triggering for me, I wish they would've used a neutral color because we all know red is bad。I think some people will LOVE this book, especially app users。 Would suggest of you're a Noom user! 。。。more

Thank you Netgalley for an advanced copy。This is less about weight and more about mind sets in general and how to re-frame your thinking to achieve goals。 Good advice in general but not super focused on food/diet/exercise。
